Considerations for Indiana's 2025 Recruiting Class
During its first full recruiting cycle, Curt Cignetti's staff is piecing together what should rival its best high school recruiting classes of the 21st Century. So what should fans consider in June?
If you read the recent Bison Bites dispatch, you might have seen a note about the current Indiana Class of 2025. There’s a real chance this high school class rivals some of Indiana’s best classes (according to ratings) in the 21st Century.
When the last dispatch of Bison Bites was released (just 4 days ago), Indiana’s class rated 26th in the nation, and now it’s rated 33rd. These things change quickly, largely because the college football recruiting calendar is in its hottest visit and commitment stage (more than 50 Power 5 commitments between June 9-10 alone!). That doesn’t mean Indiana is falling behind; there are still only 22 programs with more commitments than Indiana (11), and even then, every program's class means something unique to its roster and scholarship chart. Teams aren’t necessarily recruiting to have the highest-rated recruiting class in the country (and coaches only mention the ratings when they’re good).
While there’s still a long way to go in this class, the graph below shows how each of Indiana’s classes have finished in the last 25 years.
Note: This graph was created on June 6.
Essentially, what all of this means is that Indiana is off to a great start for this cycle – a phenomenal start even. But it has to finish.
In the meantime, here are some ways to be thinking about the Class of 2025 as it takes shape.
