Jacob Mangum-Farrar is making a fairly unprecedented change for his career entering his seventh season of college football – shifting from LB to DE, or Stud to be more specific. It’s a bit unprecedented because Mangum-Farrar has never played a position along the DL and also has never played a pass rush-first role on a defense. Given how crucial the Stud position has been to the defense being transplanted by Curt Cignetti and his staff, it’s a bit of a risk, if we are to expect Mangum-Farrar to eventually own this role. But to those who watched Mangum-Farrar in pass rushing situations in 2023, one could also understand the logic of moving the LB to Stud too.
