In the Bite-Sized Bison Preview, it was noted that Purdue had played four games against currently seeded College Football Playoff teams and lost by an average of 44.5 points. For Indiana to make a statement Saturday, that was the standard. Well, the Hoosiers met that standard and nearly set the all-time series record in scoring margin, with a 66-0 win against Purdue. If Nico Radicic’s 47-yard field goal was converted, Indiana would’ve broken a scoring margin record that has stood since 1892.
The win marks Indiana’s 11th win, an extension of the previous school record for wins during a season, which stood at 9 before 2024, and before this game even kicked off, Indiana was a Maryland win over Penn State away from appearing in the Big Ten Championship game.
To say this season is memorable is an understatement, and following losses by Miami (FL), Clemson, Texas A&M, and Ohio State (at the hands of Michigan), Indiana is a far more attractive inclusion in the College Football Playoff than it even was at 10-1. These Hoosiers aren’t done yet.
