Thank You, BSB Subscriber!

A message of appreciation from Taylor, following the conclusion of the 2024 Indiana Football season

Hello Bite-Sized Bison subscribers,

Now that the 2024 Indiana Football season has completed and we look ahead to 2025, I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you who followed along with Bite-Sized Bison during such a historic season. I truly hope the information conveyed here helped in 1.) understanding the games, 2.) adding a dimension of enjoyment to a special year, and 3.) discussing the Hoosiers with your loved ones (and enemies, let’s be honest). I’ve enveloped all of the 2024 in-season content into a collection here, if you’d like to revisit at any time.

As many of you know, I am pursuing a Master’s degree in Data Science, and since founding BSB in 2022, I always held a vision of what the newsletter could look like and the information/stories it could tell. Nobody was doing it here, and not many do it elsewhere either. It seemed far-fetched and unattainable at the time, but this season, the newsletter took a massive step toward that vision, while I grew as a data scientist and analyst.

The reason I note this is because nearly every BSB subscription dollar has gone toward my tuition, as well as access to various datasets (both used in BSB and experimental). Without that leap of faith into data science, this newsletter probably isn’t here anymore, and without that education, that step forward wouldn’t have happened. It’s been super cool to be a part of, as I reflect on it.

As a writer, I understand the privilege of anyone reading my work, let alone anyone paying to read my work. So, truly, thank you!

Like Curt Cignetti says, we’re never satisfied at Bite-Sized Bison. I’ll continue to add some things, subtract some others, and make the good things great so that this remains your favorite source for Indiana Football analysis.

One More Note

As we reset between seasons, here is a reminder of how you can take advantage of a Bite-Sized Bison paid subscription:

• Become a paid subscriber. Nearly 250 folks are paid BSB subscribers, with fewer than a handful of unsubscriptions since March 2024. If you’re looking to upgrade to a paid subscription, visit this link.

• Catch up on 2025 Offseason content. I’ve tagged each of the six current 2025 IUFB offseason newsletters to a collection, and all others will go there as well. Visit the collection here, and bookmark it so you don’t miss anything.

• Keep an eye on your email inbox. This is how more than 90% of BSB subscribers read my content. There will be plenty of offseason football content, as well as some basketball newsletters too.

• Download the Substack app to participate in the BSB Chat. You don’t absolutely need the app (there’s always a Chat link in the email headings), but the app does provide notifications when I or another subscriber post into the Chat. When you download, ensure that you visit the Settings tab first to control where you get your BSB newsletters sent and when you receive app notifications to your phone. I tend to post some recruiting analysis, takeaways from interviews, etc. into the Chat. You can download the app at this link.

• Participate in BSB. As a paying subscriber, you have the ability to post into the BSB Chat and comment on posts. Don’t be shy! I love to hear the thoughts of BSB subscribers, and they tend to be the most thoughtful fans reading IUFB content. I can’t always reply, but others might, and I enjoy knowing the content made you consider something about the teams you root for.

• Keep BSB Free Resources in mind. This resources page is at the top of the BSB website and contains the Scholarship Chart, the Depth Chart, the Assistant Salary Pool spreadsheets, the Snap Counts documents, and a document that tracks active former Hoosiers. I’m always adding to this pool of resources too, and these are particularly popular during the offseason. Check it out here and bookmark if you like the content.

• Leave a review of BSB. I do have a running page that collects reviews from readers. Let folks know if you’re enjoying BSB or not here.

• Take a tour of the BSB website. This isn’t critical for being a subscriber, but the website is a nice place to visit as a reminder of everything that BSB offers. I also have some other Substack recommendations listed on the side.

• Share the About BSB page. I recently updated this page with much of the content featured during the 2024 season. If you have a loved one who would enjoy Bite-Sized Bison, throw this link their way!

• Follow me on Twitter and/or Bluesky. I use both frequently.
